The new millennium brought with it a new breed of movie heartthrob. Rather than the over-inflated muscle men and dandified pretty boys of the past, Hollywood offered up leading actors that had both strength and sensitivity. Here are the top heartthrobs of the decade by year.
2008: ROBERT PATTINSON - TwilightRunner-up: ROBERT DOWNEY JR. - Iron Man
After a tumultuous decade, Robert Downey Jr. found a role that truly suited him (literally), and he gained a new legion of fans as billionaire superhero Tony Stark. Yet no one inspired as much screaming, fainting, and generally pandemonium as Robert Pattinson as the pale and prepossessing vampire Edward Cullen.
Two Roberts this year! But it’s pretty obvious who’s the best, not only for 2008, but the whole decade! Go Rob!
"New Moon", Summit Entertainment's sequel to the highly successful feature film "Twilight", is currently in pre-production & casting directors are accepting photos & resumes from talent. Filming begins March 2009."

"Kellan Lutz could have fans from any number of films or TV series he's done. Generation Kill got respect, Prom Night was widely seen and 90210 was still recent. Only the Twilight fans found him in his hotel room though."

Fans are particularly invested in whether Taylor Lautner, who is markedly shorter and more boyish-looking than Meyer's description of his character, Jacob, will return to vie for Bella's heart. ''We are definitely talking and thinking about it right now,'' says Erik Feig, Summit's president of production. ''Taylor's fantastic as Jacob in Twilight. I think when we get closer to shooting, the director is going to look at everyone as if they are brand-new to the role.''
And just who that director will be remains to be seen. As of press time, Hardwicke — who now holds the record for best opening-weekend box office for a female director — hadn't signed on. But she spent much of the weekend sequestered in meetings with lawyers, agents, and studio executives. She felt hamstrung by her modest budget through much of the Twilight shoot. ''I had more elaborate stunt sequences designed and very crazy, cool stuff that I wanted to do,'' she says. ''We had locations taken away. We had five days cut before we started to shoot. But, you know, I kind of got past that, I just had to let it go.''
MTV has an article about the TW cast's upcoming projects including this about Jackson:
Then there's one of our personal favorites, Mr. Jackson Rathbone. Sure, he just got back from London, where he was shooting the Clive Barker horror film "Dread," and also has the sequel to "Donnie Darko" in the can. But more than anything else, he told us, he just wants to make like Eric Yorkie and chillax.
"I've been working on my band firmly, 100 Monkeys," he said of his other passion. "We're releasing our first EP in the next two weeks, as well as our full-length improv album in a month, and then we're going to be playing regular shows in L.A. for the next three or four months. We're basically like jazz music, but with normal rock too."
And this about Kellan:
Meanwhile, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz are preparing to reunite on the drama "Strife," with the latter also preparing to shoot "Warrior" in Connecticut next month.

So, not only have deals been cut for a not-unexpected second ”Twilight” film (based on Meyer’s New Moon book), but I’ve learned a third film is also virtually a done deal, based on Meyer’s Eclipse novel — though that won’t be confirmed for some time. Also, sources say stars Robert Pattinson, 22, and Kristin Stewart, 18, will get huge salary boosts from the $2 million each earned for “Twilight” — reportedly $10 million more, per film, plus a nice percentage of the future movies’ box-office take.

“There’s no surprise here that Rob Pattinson, the male lead in Twilight that just hit theaters this weekend, has been voted the hottest movie vampire. By the way we saw the girls react to seeing him on the red carpet of Twilight, it’s a no-brainer.
Rob’s so hot right now that he trumped Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Antonio Banderas for the top honors.”
Cam Gigandet is also in the list, with a great 3rd place. On the other side, Nikki Reed has been voted as one of the Sexiest Female Vampires, with a proper 6th place in the list.
'Twilight' Sequel 'New Moon' Will Be Dark And 'Spectacular,' Stars And Director Say...
With werewolves, motorcycles, Italy and cliff-diving, the cast and crew have their work cut out for them.
The good news for fans is that studio Summit Entertainment recently took the official step of acquiring all of Meyer's "Twilight" books and has rehired screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Pattinson even told the Seattle Times that Rosenberg's "New Moon" script is already done.
Lautner plans to begin bulking up now that "New Moon" has received the official green light, and is also hoping to work some of his real-life martial-arts background into Jacob's upcoming battles. "They found a YouTube video of me on ESPN when I was 11, and they were just freaking out and were watching it over and over again. ... I said that it'd be cool if Jacob did some of that in the fight scenes," he told us in August. "[Hardwicke] said, 'Yeah, that would be cool.' "
