Twilight is on a roll! The DVD sold over 3 million copies, the soundtrack came back to life & jumped into the number 3 spot and now it has won the Fandango Fan Choice Award:
Of 69,000 film fans who voted, 78% voted for Twilight as the favorite film of 2008 in a poll conducted by Fandango. Says Fandango, "Although it was not the top-grossing film of 2008 (that honor goes to the The Dark Knight), Twilight ended up receiving more fan votes than any other title and went on to win the award [with] a recent Fandango survey [showing] New Moon, the Twilight sequel set for release on November 20, . . . among 2009's most anticipated movies." "Twilight," says the chief marketing officer for Fandango, has "clearly struck a chord with . . . moviegoers." He continues, "[a]lthough it was overlooked by the Academy and top critics' groups for nominations for 2008, Twilight has a remarkable online fan base, which was obviously instrumental in helping it win the . . . [a]ward." Mr. Hong concludes, "[t]he franchise's huge following shows no signs of abating." Summit Entertainment will receive the award in Las Vegas on April 2, 2009.
