New Washington State Law Because Of Twilight?

Washington State Senate is trying to pass a bill that will help to prevent movies, such as Twilight, from being filmed elsewhere.

"The Seattle PI claims that state Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles, a Senate Democrat in Washington, was miffed by the fact that, even though The Twilight Saga: New Moon's literary setting is in the Olympic Peninsula of the United States, it is presently filming in British Columbia (Vancouver), Canada.

The Act provides that all money received for the establishment of a motion picture competitiveness program will be diverted to such avenues as health insurance payments on a retirement plan and a tax credit marketer to promote the state's tax credit programs, as well as administrative costs."

HAHA! Only here they would do that. Although I do have to say that it is slightly dissapointing to have them filming in other states & countries instead of beautiful WA state. La Push Beach in the movie was no where near as great as the real place. Ah well. Cheaper is cheaper I guess.
