Stephenie Meyer 'Gets In The Act'

IFC.com talks about Stephenie in their list of eleven authors who have appeared in movies that are based on their books.

In this information-obsessed era, much of the appeal of a cameo -- its element of surprise -- has been lost to the need to know now, before, first. And so well before the film came out -- days after the scene was shot, in fact -- news of crazy-selling author Stephenie Meyer's cameo in the adaptation of the first installment in her vampire chronicles was all over the internet. Early reports suggested that Meyer's cameo would consist of the author ordering a vegetarian plate in a coffee shop scene (in her books, there are also vegetarian vampires) and that set off a "controversy" that no doubt lit up a thousand Tumblrs, but by the time it hit theaters, her screen time was reduced to a silent sit at a lunch counter. Too shy to go along with director Catherine Hardwicke's wish that she have a line, Meyer regrets doing it at all: "It was not my idea to do the cameo," she said in retrospect. "They talked me into it. They thought it would be, you know, cute for the fans because most of them would recognize me. I was thinking it was going to be more like a 'Where's Waldo?' thing. Like I walk by for one second in a crowd and if they can find me, cool. That's the one scene in the movie I would happily cut -- the first five seconds, and the one that I had to watch like, I mean like this [covering her eyes], 'Ah, is it over yet?' It was really hard for me."

I loved having Stephenie in Twilight even if she didn't want a line. She was great!

The casting director for New Moon, Joseph Middleton, has announced that "We are finished with the casting process".

Taylor Thinks His Time is Finally Here?

MSNBC is reporting this quote from Jacob Black, a.k.a. Laylor Lautner:

"I wanted to get 'Twilight' over with, let Edward have his time with Bella and get moving with 'New Moon,'" Lautner, 17, told Life & Style. "It's about time Jacob got in there."

Ah, Jake, hate to disappoint you, but have you read the rest of the books? (I HAD to use this manip. I don't know who made it, but isn't it nice! Thanks ROBsessed)

Cinequest Film Festival How To Be Screening

I am at the Cinequest Film Festival!

Tonight's screening of How To Be is at 7pm. The director, Oliver Ivring, will be in attendance & doing a Q&A after the movie.

Who is Paul Weitz?

So if the rumor is true, just who is Paul Weitz?

Besides being Chris Weitz's brother, Paul Weitz has been involved with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, The Golden Compass, American Pie2, and Fantasy Island, as a producer. He has also done writing for About a Boy, The Nutty Professor II and Antz. He is listed as a director for American Pie.

What is he like? What will he be like as a director? Well, he was born in NY in1965. Here is a quote atributed to him, maybe that will give us some idea:

"We're an odd culture. I think Americans have a sense of guilt because they understand that they have more of just about everything than anyone else. At the same time we're essentially isolationist; cut off from the rest of the world both physically and in the news we hear. It's an odd juxtaposition of opposites that manifests itself I think in fear and apprehension. It can be something as simple as the shark in Jaws or a much more complex issue like terrorism. I'm just stumbling around trying to give it a little bit of human context."

Eclipse Director is PAUL WEITZ?

Acting411 reports the director for Eclipse will be Chris Weitz's brother Paul. Not Drew! Whew! There is still no official word from Summit though.

"There have been rumors circulating that Drew Barrymore will be directing the third installment of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series. These rumors are false. Due to the New Moon post-production schedule for director Chris Weitz, his brother and co-owner of "Depth of Field Productions" - Paul Weitz - will be directing Eclipse."

Also they list info on acting auditions for Eclipse. Wouldn't you just die!

Clearly the studio's concerns that Taylor wouldn't be convincing as a romantic rival for swooney Robert were all for naught. In fact, I think as we approach the Nov. 20 debut of "New Moon," the question will become: "Is Taylor Now Better Looking Than Robert?"

Twilightsingapore has some really fun shots of the crew, dancing and looking like they are having fun at the Twilght Tour in Japan today. The look on Kristen Stewart's face is priceless. She looks like the sweet person we love for her to be. Apparently she was trying to say something in Japanese. Cute!

MTV Has A Recap Of The Tokyo Press Conference

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner traveled to Japan to promote "Twilight" - not that it needs promotion these days, but Twilighters are Twilighters, and it's only fair that those in Japan get their chance to see the stars in person. (Check out photos after the jump, and then take a look at the entire Japanese "Twilight" event photo gallery here.)

The trio seemed very coordinated in their dark ensembles. Kristen wore a tight black dress with white detailing on the bottom, all in what looks like leather. That girl always seems to be in leather these days! Robert chose a dark suit over a brown button-down and olive striped tie, all of which doesn’t seem to match but ... since when does Robert match, right? And Taylor wore all black: black suit, black shirt, no tie. Very sleek.

What Do "Twilight" Stars Like To Do With Their Celeb Friends? Sing!

As we reported earlier, Robert Pattinson and Hugh Jackman were spotted at karaoke bar together.

Just Jared is reporting that it was actually a pretty famous group that joined in the fun.


At around 10PM on Wednesday (February 26), Rob joined Australia star Hugh Jackman, director Baz Luhrmann and producer John Palermo at a karaoke bar near their hotel, as first reported by E!. Here’s the connection: On Sunday, Rob presented at the Oscars, Hugh ably hosted the swank event, John created the flashy opening number, Baz choreographed the “Musicals Are Back!” number and everyone wound up taking the same flight to Japan together.


That's like some kind of "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game.....
